Workbench Mat

A good workbench mat does three things. It keeps small parts from rolling off the bench, it gives solvent and glue somewhere to go, and it protects the bench top from the project. The Magic Carpet® Workbench Mat does all three with a firm, low profile textile that soaks liquid into its core fast and cleans up with a hose.

Why felt beats rubber on a bench

A rubber bench mat is fine until you spill on it. Then the solvent sits on the surface, spreads under your parts, and ends up on your sleeve. Silicone mats are small and made for soldering, not for a carburetor teardown. The Magic Carpet® is dense needlepunched polyester with a patented pass-through wicking core. Oil, penetrating fluid, glue, and stain soak in and spread out across the middle layer. The surface stays workable and the bench underneath stays dry.

Screws and washers stay where you set them. The felt surface has enough grip to stop hardware from rolling and enough give to protect a finished part you set face down.

Care

Brush off dry debris. Hand wash or hose off, then air dry. Solvent-soaked mats should air out before storage.

Made in Medina, New York from 100% recycled polyester. Strong and puncture-resistant, so dropped tools and sharp parts do not cut it.

Workbench mat questions

Is it an ESD mat?

No. It is not an anti-static mat and should not be used where ESD protection is required.

Will glue or resin ruin it?

Cured glue and resin bond to the fibers and will not wash out. Treat those spots as permanent. The mat still works around them.
