Why felt beats rubber on a bench
A rubber bench mat is fine until you spill on it. Then the solvent sits on the surface, spreads under your parts, and ends up on your sleeve. Brush off dry debris. Hand wash or hose off, then air dry. Solvent-soaked mats should air out before storage.

Workbench mat questions
Is it an ESD mat?
No. It is not an anti-static mat and should not be used where ESD protection is required.
Will glue or resin ruin it?
Cured glue and resin bond to the fibers and will not wash out. Treat those spots as permanent. The mat still works around them.
