Most dog bowl mats are rubber or silicone trays. They catch the water and then hold it there until a paw drags it across the floor. The Magic Carpet® Dog Bowl Mat works the other way. Slurps, splashes, and dropped kibble land on the mat, the liquid soaks into the core fast, and the floor under the bowls stays dry.
Why a tray under the water bowl is not enough
Hardwood, laminate, and grout do not fail from one spill. They fail from the same three inches around the water bowl getting wet every single day. A raised-lip tray keeps the puddle in one place, but the puddle is still there, and every drink adds to it. By the time you notice a dark ring in the floor, the damage has been building for months.
The Magic Carpet® is a firm needlepunched polyester mat with a patented pass-through wicking core. Liquid moves through the top surface and spreads across the middle layer, so nothing stands on top. Kibble stays put instead of skating across a wet tray.

Dog bowl mat questions
Does it stop my dog from tipping the bowl?
No mat stops a determined bowl tipper. What the Magic Carpet® does is take the water that ends up on the mat into its core so it is not spreading across the floor.
Is it safe for wood floors?
The mat has no waterproof backing. It wicks liquid across the material and releases it as it air dries. For wood floors, lift the mat after a big spill and let both the mat and the floor air out.
Can I use it under a litter box too?
Yes. The same mat works as a litter box mat to catch tracked litter and misses.
